Clarence Clyde Seedorf deed voor het eerst van zich spreken aan het begin van de jaren ’90 als een getalenteerde rechtermiddenvelder bij Ajax, waar hij zijn debuut maakte op de zeer jonge leeftijd van 16 jaar en 242 dagen. Tot op de dag van vandaag is hij de jongste speler ooit die uitkwam voor het eerste elftal van Ajax. Rafael Ferdinand van der Vaart werd op 11 februari 1983 in Heemskerk geboren. Voordat hij overstapte naar de jeugdopleiding van Ajax, voetbalde hij bij De Kennemers, een kleine club in Beverwijk. Hij kwam al snel hogerop en speelde op 19 april 2000 zijn eerste wedstrijd in het eerste van Ajax, uit tegen FC Den Bosch. Het volgende seizoen veroverde hij een basisplaats: toen speelde hij 27 competitiewedstrijden, waarin hij zeven doelpunten maakte.

Na een amateurcarrière bij Woezik (Wijchen), DIOSA (Balgoij), SV Blauw Wit (Nijmegen) en een vierjarig verblijf bij Vitesse, kwam Roy Makaay via Tenerife bij Deportivo La Coruña terecht, een club waarmee hij Spaans landskampioen is geworden. Ook werd hij Europees topscorer in dienst van deze ploeg.

ijn eerste club was S.V. Diemen, daar heb ik veel geleerd over de verschillende inzichten van het voetbalspel. Om mij op het technische vlak verder te ontwikkelen ruilde ik na twee jaar op advies van mijn vader S.V. Diemen om voor voetbalvereniging Fortius. Omdat Ajax toen al mijn favoriete club was, besloten pa en ma mij in 1997 in te schrijven voor de talentendagen van Ajax.
